I remember coming to view the house we now live in.
The estate agent gave us a grand tour of each room, masterfully painting a picture of what life would look like if we decided to buy.
On the top floor, in an attic room where I am sat right now writing this, she led me to the two Velux windows.
Hinging them upwards, she revealed dramatic sweeping views over Swansea Bay, with Mumbles head gleaming on the horizon.

The sea shone a bright blue, perfectly still but for the brilliant white sheets of sailboats heeling in the breeze.
“You can watch the Swansea Airshow from here, your very own private viewing box,” she said.
I imagined colourful contrails carving through the sky above me, toylike aircraft darting across the bay. The thunderous roar of jet propulsion shaking its way through the tiles and into our home.

A vision of our future burst into life. And it was at that precise moment that I decided to make an offer.
So the 2025 Swansea Airshow was more than just an airshow to me. It was a celebration, a reward, a reminder that hard work – or at least some of it – does indeed pay off.
